Hyderabad City Tours

Introduction: The capital city of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad is the fifth largest metropolitan city of India. It is also one of rapidly emerging high tech cities of India. Known as the city of Charminar, Hyderabad is the main commercial center of south India. This advanced city is known for its rich history and culture with magnificent monuments, mosques and temples. Perched on the top of Deccan Pleatue, this oldest city is noted for its natural beauty, minarets, bazaars, hills and lakes. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are neighbouring cities. They are separated by Hussain Sagar, which is an artificial lake dating back to the historical times.

History:
Hyderabad city is more than 400 years old. Hyderbad was divided in 1956 on liguistic lines. The state was divided into the northeastern Telugu-speaking region including Hyderabad. Hyderbad then became part of the new state called Andhra Pradesh. Once the part of Ashoka's Empire in the 3rd century BC, Hyderbad city was founded in 1586 by Muhammad Quli, fifth emperor of the Qutub Shahi Dynasty of Golconda. The city has had its highs and lows. The city was not much maintained once the Mughals diminished from the area. Mughals had controlled the city between 1687 and 1724. This city has enormously grown over four hundreds years.

Places of interest: Charminar is the magnificent historical site of Hyderabad, for which it is famous all over the country. The edifice of the four minarets, Charminar is the legendary masterpiece of the Qutub Shahis. Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah built the awesome rectangular structure in 1591 to commemorate the end of plague. Founded originally by the Kakatiyas in the 13th century, the Golconda Fort was expanded by the Qutb Shahi kings into a massive fort of granite with walls and ramparts extending some 7kms in circumference. Mecca Masjid is the biggest mosque in Hyderabad, named after the grand mosque at Mecca on which it is patterned.

Travel information: Based near the bank of river Moosi, Hyderabad is a city with a deep rooted past. Its language and mannerism still exudes its rich and legendary past. The Nizams of Hyderabad were known to be one of the wealthiest royals of the past. Hederabadi cuisine stands high and unmatched by any other state in India. Some traditional Hyderabadi dishes like Biryani, Murgi Korma and Haleem are very famous all over India. It is said that these dishes were also popular about 400 years ago. Hyderabad is well connected to all the major cities of India.
