Ranthambhore National Park
The ex-hunting ground of the Maharajahs of Jaipur, Rajasthan, the Ranthambhore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves of India. Ranthambhore was declared as game sanctuary in 1995, as Tiger Reserve in 1972, and as a National Park in 1980. Today, the park is considered as one of the most popular national parks in India. The park is rich in its flora and fauna. Abandoned fortress, lovely lakes, beautiful fauna, wild animals and above all tigers have made this park one of the most famous wildlife parks in the world. The park is predominantly famous for its majestic tigers. Tigers can be seen even during the day time. The park is dotted with ancient Banyan trees, Pipal trees, Dhok trees, and Mango trees. The park is also known for Ranthambhore Fort and Jogi Mahal. The park is easily accessible form Sawai Madhopur.
Sariska National Park
The ex-hunting ground of the Maharajahs of Alwar, Sariska National Park is also a popular wildlife park of India. Sariska is dotted with several historical and religious attractions including ruins of Kankwari Fort, ancient Lord Shiva Temples, the Buddha Hanumab Tallvriksh, the Bharthai Temple, etc. The park is rich in its flora and fauna. The park is haven to numerous carnivores like leopard, jungle cat, jackal, wild dog, tiger, hyena, etc. There is also large population of animals like chital, niggai, sambhar, wild boar, ape, monkey, etc are found. The park is also home to several bird species like peafowl, bush quail, tree pie, grey partridge, crested serpent eagle, sand grouse, golden backed wood pecker, great Indian horned owl, etc.
Keoladeo Ghana National Park
Keoladeo National Park is situated in the town of Bharatpur in the north Indian state of Rajasthan, about 55 kms from the Agra - the city of Taj. Keoladeo National Park is famous as one of Asia's finest birding areas, with over 380 resident and migrant species, including the Common, Demoiselle and the rare Siberian Cranes. Previously known as the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, the Keoladeo National Park is also an excellent place to watch mammals like Golden Jackal, Striped Hyena, Fishing Cat, Jungle Cat, Nilgai, Sambar, Blackbuck and wild Boar.
Desert National Park
The Desert National Park is an excellent example of the ecosystem of the Thar desert and its diverse fauna. Sand dunes form around 20% of the Park. The major landform consists of craggy rocks and compact salt lake bottoms, intermedial areas and fixed dunes which are quite suitable for the chinkara to move at high speed. The blackbuck is another common antelope of this region. Its other notable inhabitants are the desert fox, Bengal fox, wolf and desert cat. |
